Phil Adams was whistling as he stepped out of the lift into the foyer of the company offices, he was in a good mood. Opening the door to his department he stopped short at the sight of two women at his secretary’s desk. Neither of whom was his secretary.
“Good morning Phil.”
“Em . . . Good morning Jane. We don’t normally see you around here at this time of the morning.”
A raised eyebrow turned his statement into a question and his colleague smiled back.
“Sorry Phil, got a little problem at the moment. Christine rang me at home last night. She slipped and badly sprained her ankle and has to be off for a couple of days. So Samantha is the temp we’ve brought in to cover for your secretary and I was just showing her around.”
The tall blonde girl behind the desk smiled nervously at him. She was stunning absolutely stunning, and smiled back.
“Good morning to you too Samantha.”
He turned back to the HR manager.
“So why did Christine ring you Jane, instead of me direct?”
“She tried, but both you and Amy were out and she didn’t want to leave a message. Now you okay with everything here Samantha?”
The blonde nodded.
“Good, I have to scoot, see ya later. I’ll pop back around lunchtime to make sure everything’s hunky dory. Bye . . .”
With that the matronly woman bounced out of the room leaving the two others looking at each other. Phil nodded and smiled again before going into his private office and preparing himself for the day ahead. Two minutes later a timid knock sounded.
“Enter.”
